Help Deliver Food to At Risk, Food Insecure Families in NYC
On September 24th, Tesla Owners Club New York State (TOCNYS) is teaming up with nonprofits Westside Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) and Helping Hands Community (HHC) to deliver free food boxes to Manhattan families in-need. Food pantries offer a vital lifeline for many NYC residents--particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic--but these organizations don’t typically offer delivery. That means families that depend on these services are forced to take unnecessary exposure risks to access food and other social services. To address this gap, we’re asking Tesla owners to join our efforts to deliver food boxes from WSCAH to those in need, allowing those most vulnerable to COVID-19 to stay safely in their homes.
As part of this event, each Tesla will be loaded with 10-15 food boxes in their trunks and frunks to deliver to predetermined local recipients. There will be a short orientation from WSCAH, who will provide addresses and instructions for no contact delivery. In an abundance of safety precaution, PPE will be provided onsite for anyone who needs it. Once the food boxes are loaded, Owners should plan to spend roughly two hours delivering the food boxes to their list of recipients (brownie points if Bioweapon defense mode is on).
If you are able to donate your time, please take the following steps:
