It is now November 10 and all I got from EZ Pass is a envelope to mail back my old module.  EZ Pass still refuses to give me a windshield mod.  I just do not know what to do next.  Can anybody help me ? I would greatly appreciated any help I receive.

    William,

Thank you for your suggestions  ALL of which I have tried.  My last called went to a supervisor who told me Teslas do not get wind shield mods as they do not work correctly.  After I explained to him I have a model "Y" he said he would contact Correspondence Unit for me and try to explain the situation.  I have no confidence that this will help. Until the EZ  Pass management says Teslas get windshield mods I fear I will not get one.

I don't have the name of the person who helped me but I called

800/333-8655 (which is probably the number you called).  My advice is to calmly tell the person you need help after having spoken to EZ-Pass reps several times; tell them what you want (one thing only so there can be no confusion, e.g. "a windshield module for my 201_ Tesla Model _ car and to be enrolled in the Green Pass [or whatever it's called] program for electric vehicles."  Ask if he/she can give you the case number for your previous calls, or if none, for your current call.  If they say the windshield unit isn't available for Model 3s, tell them you understand that originally this was the case but that changed months ago and you know several other Model 3 owners who have windshield modules and who are enrolled with the Green Pass program.   Ask if there is anything else they need from you in order to get your module and Green Pass privileges.  Finally, if they say they will get you what you are asking for, ask them how long it will take for you to receive your module so you'll have an idea as to when to follow up should you not receive the unit and also make any more calls to follow up in the meantime.  I would also get this person's name (particularly if they are being helpful and sound knowledgeable) for future reference in speaking with the same or different person should you have to contact them again.

I can understand this may be very frustrating, but maybe if you go at it just for this one thing, kindly, seeking their help you'll enlist someone's customer service chops and human sympathies.

Here we go again. After I got the license plate module I called EZ Pass and they promised a windshield module for the Tesla, a replacement mod for my truck and envelopes to send back the old mods. All I got was a replacement  mod for the truck. I called for the 5th time and was promised the correct mod for the Tesla and envelops to send back the old mods. Today I got only one envelop and NO mod for the Tesla,  I' m at my wits end, Can anybody please tell what to do to get my Green windshield for my "Y"

I finally got my Green EZ pas module yesterday,  It is supposed to go on the license plate bracket however the screws they sent are way to big and long.  I called and finally was able to convince the agent I needed a windshield module.  He said I would get one in 5-7 business days. Time will tell

I applied for a Green EZ pass on August 10 following instructions I received on my phone call to EZ Pass.  I called on Sept 2 only to find out my application was denied because I sent in a copy of my temp registration. I was told a letter telling me this was sent on Aug 25.(still do not have this letter).  I applied again with a copy of my perm registration but no Green EZ pass as of today.

Excellent update, William! This is TOCNYS at its best, sharing info and hopefully impacting the outside world, too :-)

I called EZ Pass (1-800/333-8655) today (Friday August 14th 10:10 a.m.) and spoke with an EZ Pass rep who is sending me the windshield module (should have it in 5-7 business days) whereupon I will wrap my present license plate module and mail it back to EZ Pass.  Sounds like EZ Pass recognizes that the Tesla Module 3 (and he said the Model S as well) have regular, non-metallic windshields so can use windshield EZ Pass modules.

I was prepared to ask for a supervisor and appeal this up the line, but that's fortunately not necessary.  Thank you for your response and assistance in this!

NOTE:  It still may depend on which EZ Pass rep one gets, though, as the person I spoke with a couple of weeks ago was very hesitant to send me the windshield module and a follow up email from EZ Pass, if I read it correctly, said no action to be taken, case closed.  I've had the Green EZ Pass for months.  There is no charge for it and it gives me a discount on every EZ Pass use.  I prefer the windshield module as extra caution to prevent my front license plate from pulling away from the car, as mine did several weeks ago, though it seems very few others have had this happen.

You're welcome, William. The section "YMMV, Big Time" covers some of the novel ways to obtain an interior E-ZPass from late last year, including at a toll booth, but now that's a moot point.

If you prefer a Green Pass, I believe you still have to write a letter. The interior Green Pass truly is green in color; otherwise the internals are the normal off white. Fellow owners say they've obtained theirs by calling in until they get a cooperative agent.

Personally I love my exterior Green Pass, and it's been nothing but robust.

Thank you, John.  Does anyone who was able to obtain a windshield EZ Pass for their Tesla Model 3 have advice as to how to go about it?
