Post-Event Recap: New Owners Workshop - Rochester

Last Saturday afternoon, 15 Tesla owners attended the first ever TOCNYS New Owners Workshop, held in Rochester.

The workshop was headed by 3 presenters (Harry B, Ken F, and John G), each of whom have significant experience owning, driving, and maintaining Teslas.

Fielding one of the countless questions

The session began with general introductions, so everyone could get to know the presenters a little, as well as a survey of the different vehicles represented in the group. After that, the questions started coming rapid-fire and fortunately the answers and advice did too! This session covered everything from basic operation to emergency procedures.

Next, special thanks to Buffalo member John W. for contributing his excellent Powerpoint presentation on charging, which was then presented by Ken F, who supplemented the content with his own experience. As charging and the nature of batteries are a radical departure from pumping gas, several related points and questions were brought up and discussed as a result.

The workshop rounded up with a general maintenance-themed Q&A session, highlighted by John G. sharing his meticulous vehicle cleaning routine and advice. Per usual with a gathering of enthusiasts like Tesla owners, the interaction continued well past the official end time and spilled over into the parking lot :)

Smiles all around as the first ever New Owners Workshop drew to a close

New Owners Workshops are periodically put on by TOCNYS in our various NY State regions to address the new concepts and differences that EVs and Teslas specifically present compared to traditional internal-combustion vehicles. We aim to bridge that gap of understanding for our new Tesla-owning members.
